Prepare + Prosper launches tax season with 24-hour free tax prep to result in taxpayers ‘claiming’ Earned Income Tax Credit and Minnesota Working Family Credit

WHAT: Prepare + Prosper holds second marathon tax preparation “Taxathon” at peak of tax season for low-income individuals and families as part of the Claim It! campaign. Volunteers will provide free tax and financial services to hundreds in two-day push expected to result in more than $700,000 dollars in “claimed” tax credits, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Working Family Credit. Claim It! is funded by Greater Twin Cities United Way.

Friday, February 3, 2017 (Day 1)
8:45 a.m. – 8:59 a.m. – Program including countdown to Taxathon with leaders from Greater Twin Cities United Way, Minnesota Department of Revenue, and Prepare + Prosper along with volunteers and tax filers.
9:00 a.m. Friday – 1:00 a.m. Saturday – Taxathon kick-off – Volunteer tax preparers work for 16 hours

9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Taxathon volunteer tax prep continues for eight hours
