Now accepting tax clinic volunteers for the 2017 tax season! 

All volunteers receive high-level training, which takes place during the months of December and January. Volunteers commit to one 4-hour shift per week during the tax season (January 21 - April 15, 2017).

Tax site specialist Provide customer support and service for taxpayers. Working closely with the intake manager, keep the multi-step process smooth running. 

Interpreter: Provide support to our non-native English speaking customers. Bilingual in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Oromo, Amharic or Karen. 

Tax preparer: Work one-on-one with customers to prepare state and federal tax returns. By doing this you'll help the customer access important tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). 

Self-employment tax preparer:  Work one-on-one with customers to complete federal and state returns using tax software for customers who are independent contractors or sole proprietors. Two to three years tax experience and/or experience working with Schedule C is needed, training is provided.

Reviewer:  Provide thorough on-site checks of all tax returns prepared by our volunteer tax preparers, ensuring that every customer receives top quality service.

Financial advocate: Work one-on-one with customers to discuss their individual financial goals to offer support and access to applicable financial products, services and referrals, with a specific focus on saving.

Admin or Skills-Based volunteer positions: 

There is a great deal of behind-the-scenes work that goes into making us successful and we often have a need for volunteers to help with a variety of projects. If you have a skill you feel is beneficial to share, please let us know at volunteer[at]prepareandprosper.org.

Financial coach volunteer position: 

Financial coachWork one-on-one with participants as they strive towards their financial goals. Financial coaches receive in-depth training to provide long-term support to 4 participants twice a month. We are not currently accepting applications for the financial coaching program. We will begin accepting applications again in January/February 2017. If interested, please email volunteer[at]prepareandprosper.org and we will contact you when the application opens this winter.
